On the morning of May 22, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department ( Ministry of National Defense ) held an incense offering ceremony at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs and a ceremony to report achievements to Uncle Ho on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the force's traditional day (May 27, 2014 - May 27, 2024).
During 10 years of participating in UN peacekeeping operations, the Vietnam People's Army has sent over 800 officers and professional soldiers to deploy individually and as units. Among them, there are 5 squads of the Level 2 Field Hospital deployed to the South Sudan Mission, 2 squads of the Engineering Team deployed to the UNISFA Mission, Abyei region, and 114 officers deployed individually.
At the ceremony to report to Uncle Ho, Colonel Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, affirmed that the deployed units and officers of the Vietnam People's Army had successfully and excellently completed the tasks assigned by the mission commander and the United Nations.
Many individual officers, upon finishing their terms, were assessed by the United Nations as having completed their tasks excellently and were awarded certificates of merit and letters of commendation.
100% of the officers were awarded the Medal for the Cause of United Nations Peacekeeping by the commanders of the missions on behalf of the United Nations Security Council. The number of officers who have successfully completed their missions in Vietnam is much higher than the average of the United Nations and other countries sending troops.
The peacekeeping force of the Vietnam People's Army has made great efforts in carrying out its assigned tasks, demonstrating professionalism, creativity, and high discipline, leaving many good impressions on the mission commanders as well as international friends, colleagues, and local people.
