The opening ceremony of the Provincial High School Excellence Exam for the 2024-2025 school year took place this morning, April 20, at Ho Thi Ky High School (Ca Mau City).

This year's exam has 1,230 candidates registered to take the exam in 9 subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Literature, History, Geography and English, with 53 exam rooms. Specifically: 125 candidates took the exam in Math; 117 candidates took the exam in Physics; 120 candidates took the exam in Chemistry, 160 candidates took the exam in Biology, 66 candidates took the exam in Informatics; 206 candidates took the exam in Literature; 169 candidates took the exam in History, 146 candidates took the exam in Geography and 121 candidates took the exam in English.

The unit with the most candidates taking the exam is Phan Ngoc Hien High School for the Gifted with 167 candidates, followed by Dam Doi High School with 102 candidates.

Over the years, the number of candidates registering for the exam has increased, the number of candidates winning high prizes has increased and is spread across all units and schools, regardless of whether they are in the city or in the district.

The purpose of the gifted student exam is to discover students with aptitude for the subject in order to create a source of training.
