Sau Chua Ancient Rose Garden
Located in Sau Chua Village, Sa Pa Commune, Sa Pa Town, about 7 km from the center of Sa Pa, the Sâu Chua Ancient Rose Garden spans over 8 hectares and features both ancient Sa Pa roses and other renowned rose varieties. The garden boasts over 200 rose bushes, each more than 30 years old, blooming year-round.

The Sa Pa ancient rose Garden, part of the Hoang Lien Ecotourism Cooperative in Sa Pa Ward, Sa Pa Town, is the largest rose garden in the area, covering nearly 5 ha. Here, visitors can marvel at the beauty of thousands of rose bushes. Surrounded by a myriad of blooming flowers against the backdrop of the sky and clouds, visitors can admire the unique shapes of the old rose trees, carefully pruned and shaped by the skilled hands of local gardeners.

Nguyen Duc Huan, a landscaper at the Sa Pa Ancient Rose Garden, shared: “The care of Sa Pa’s ancient rose hills is done with great precision to preserve and cultivate the most beautiful blooms”.

Perched on a hilltop with wide-open views, the Sau Chua Ancient Rose Garden greets visitors from the entrance with colorful rose bushes lining the stone path leading to the main garden. In the center of the garden are the most beautiful and valuable ancient roses, beautifully arranged among bonsai landscapes.
Surrounding the garden are nurseries with small rose plants, along with hydrangeas and dahlias, harmoniously combined to create a dreamy, enchanting scene. The fragrant scent of the flowers provides visitors with a relaxed, peaceful feeling, as if they’ve stepped into a fairyland.
There are many old varieties of roses and also new varieties like green roses.
Aside from roses, the Sa Pa Ancient Rose Garden also grows hydrangeas on the hillside. When in bloom, these flowers create a sparkling, magical effect like no other place. In February and March each year, the hydrangeas are in full bloom, attracting many tourists to visit, making it an unmissable destination. Nguyen Thanh Hang, a visitor from Hanoi, shared: “When I arrived here, I felt like I was wandering through a vast forest of hydrangeas. The cool, fresh air made it the perfect place for beautiful photos and relaxation. I’m sure this is a place I’ll return to every time I visit Sa Pa.”
Pham Ngoc Long, Director of the Hoang Lien Ecotourism Cooperative in Sa Pa, where the hydrangea garden is located, explained: “The Sa Pa Ancient Rose Garden has been cultivating hydrangeas for many years. This flower is easy to grow and thrives in the Sa Pa climate. From April to June every year, the hydrangeas bloom, drawing many visitors who come to enjoy the scenery and take photos”.
The Sa Pa ancient rose Garden is often compared to a “paradise” for flower lovers – an ideal tourist destination not to be missed when visiting Sa Pa’s mountain town. Admission for sightseeing and photography is 100,000 VND per person, and dining services are also available for booking.
