Quang Ngai, 9 people on board had just come ashore after a sea trip when the 700 horsepower fishing boat caught fire, causing two billion VND in damage on the morning of March 6.
At around 8am, Mr. Nguyen Thanh's fishing boat (in Binh Hai commune, Binh Son district) reached the shore of Phuoc Thien village after a night of fishing about 10-20 nautical miles from shore.
As the crew members were about to reach shore, a fire suddenly broke out in the cabin. Crew members and dozens of people from nearby ships climbed onto the stern of the ship and scooped up seawater to put out the fire, but to no avail.

Dung Quat Fire Prevention and Fighting Police and Binh Hai Border Guard Station mobilized many vehicles and water hoses to coordinate with local forces to put out the fire. However, strong winds made it difficult to put out the fire.
The fire was brought under control at around 11am. There were no casualties, but the fishing boat was completely burned down, causing about 2 billion VND in damage. The cause is under investigation.
